Asbestos

We are licensed to transport and accept asbestos waste at our Waste Transfer Station. Asbestos waste is categorised as special waste, therefore the legislations involving the removal and disposal of asbestos are now extremely stringent.

Any sites where more than 250kg of asbestos waste is produced must be registered with the Environmental Agency before the waste can be removed.

In normal circumstances we will provide you with an 8 cubic yard enclosed skip for asbestos waste removal.

Important Information

Due to the nature of our business it is not possible for us to give you an exact delivery time, although we will always try our best to fit in with your plans.

Please ensure that the agreed position for the skip is clear of any obstruction.

Skips must be placed on private property: this may be on a driveway, hard-standing or garden area. Skips may not be placed on the public highway (e.g. road, grass verge, pavement) as we no longer deal with road permits issued by the council.

We can offer a wait and load service, this is a less expensive alternative to organising a permit and can be an option if a permit is refused by the council. The driver would bring the skip to your site and you would have 30mins in order to load the skip. Should it take longer than 30mins a waiting charge will apply.

Skips must always be level loaded, our drivers will refuse to collect over loaded skips, and extra charges may be incurred. It is an illegal offence for our drivers to carry overloaded skips.

The following items must not be put into skips: asbestos, tyres, refrigerators, freezers, gas bottles, toxic substances, batteries, television sets, computer monitor screens, fluorescent tubes. Special disposal of these items can be arranged.

In no circumstances should a fire be started in a skip.

Damaged skips will be charged for.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long can I keep the skip for?

You can keep the skip for two weeks. It is possible to hire the skips for a longer period: this must be arranged upon booking and a charge may apply.

Where can the skip be dropped?

The skip must be placed on private property: this may be your driveway or garden.

What happens when the skip cannot be placed on private property?

If it is not possible for the skip to be left on private property then we offer a wait-and-load service using either a skip lorry or a transit van (for smaller loads - see our Man & Van Small Collections Service). We no longer deal with council-issued road permits, so skips cannot be left on the public highway.

How much notice is needed to hire a skip?

We offer a same day/next day local delivery service. We will try our very best to get the skip to you as quickly as possible.

Access onto my property is limited, what access is required for the lorry?

We have two sizes of skip lorries available, our smaller lorries require a minimum width of 8ft 3in (2.5m) and our larger lorries require a minimum width of 9ft (2.7m).

What happens to the waste in my skip once it has been collected?

When the driver collects your skip, he will bring it back to our Waste Transfer Station, where it will be tipped, sorted and processed. We aim to recycle as much of your waste as possible to minimise the amount which gets taken to landfill. We recycle around 85% of the waste which we receive.
